1. Unboxing Your Ledger Device

Inside your Ledger box, you should find the following:

Ledger device (Nano S Plus, Nano X, or Stax)
USB cable or adapter
Getting started leaflet
Recovery phrase cards
Keychain or accessories (depending on model)

Important: If your device was pre-initialized or if any security seals are broken, do not use it. Contact Ledger Support immediately.

2. Go to Ledger.com/Start

To begin the setup, open your browser and navigate to Ledger.com/Start. This is the official onboarding portal from Ledger®.

You’ll be guided to download Ledger Live – Ledger’s official app for managing your device and assets.

3. Install Ledger Live

Ledger Live is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Download the correct version for your platform and install it.

Once installed, open Ledger Live and select “Get Started.”

Choose your device model.
Follow the setup instructions carefully.
Connect your device when prompted using the provided cable.

4. Set Up Your Device

On your Ledger device screen, you’ll be guided to:

Choose and confirm a PIN code (4–8 digits)
Generate and write down your 24-word recovery phrase
Confirm a few random words to verify you wrote them correctly

Never share your recovery phrase. Ledger will never ask for it. Anyone with access to this phrase can access your funds.

5. Install Apps & Add Accounts

Using Ledger Live, you can install apps for specific cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc.) onto your device.

Then, create accounts within Ledger Live to start managing those assets.

Go to “Manager” in Ledger Live to install apps.
Navigate to “Accounts” → “Add Account” to set up wallets.

6. Receiving and Sending Crypto

To receive crypto:

Click “Receive” in Ledger Live
Select the account
Verify the receiving address on your device screen
Copy and share your address

To send crypto:

Click “Send” in Ledger Live
Enter the recipient address and amount
Confirm transaction details on your Ledger device

7. Security Tips

Always use the official Ledger Live app
Update your firmware and apps regularly
Never enter your recovery phrase on any website or app
Beware of fake support websites
Enable password lock on Ledger Live for extra security
